Culpen & Woods Architects (CWA) is a design practice focused on architecture that enhances human activities and invigorates the spirit. We are committed to creating sustainable environments by the interaction of space, form, materials and mechanical systems. CWA uses advanced technology in design, documentation and management of the construction process.

History and Philosophy

In 1991, Harry Culpen and David Woods founded their design practice in Stamford, Connecticut. As the clients have expanded, so too has the practice from the humble beginnings in retail planning and historic renovation to more complicated commercial, public and residential projects.

We constantly work to achieve three important goals:
design clarity, technical excellence and client service.

In order to achieve these goals, CWA designs with a fully integrated CAD system that combines 3D modeling with construction documentation. BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology has enhanced project communication and coordination with construction managers, owners and users from the start of design to the occupancy of each building environment.
