Harry S. Culpen, AIA, NCARB
Harry has been in practice for over thirty five years; twenty of those, working with the international firm of Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum. He was relocated in 1975, from the HOK St. Louis headquarters, to New York, and became the Director of Design. He had responsibility for such projects as the 80’ Olympic Center at Lake Placid, the Oxford Center tower, in Pittsburgh, the US Embassy Housing, in Cairo, Poydras Center, in New Orleans and the Union Station redevelopment, in St. Louis. Many of these projects have received worldwide recognition.

Harry founded Culpen & Woods Architects in 1991 with his associate of many years, David Woods.

A significant amount of Harry’s project experience is with commercial architecture, retail planning and historic renovation. Since forming CWA, he has directed the design for Cuisinart Resort and Spa, in Anguilla, the renovation of the Cole Auditorium at Greenwich Library and the many phases of construction completed for the Country Club of Darien. He also directed the master planning for numerous large scale developments such as the Abo el Hol Center in Cairo and Admiral’s Wharf in Stamford.
