Hutchinson Convention Center:
HutchinsoN, Kansas
The building and it’s landscape is
modeled on the prairie roots and shapes of utility sheds and farm
technology structures. It incorporates a 30,000 sq. ft. convention
hall, divisible into three sections and 7 meeting rooms. The tall
round entry hall is intended to be visible from across the city,
just as the grain towers nearby, make their declaration on the
land.
Sustainable environment strategies directed the arrangement of
building components and technologies. The building incorporates
geothermal heating, evaporative cooling, day lighting, water conservation
and reduced energy consumption targeted at 30%.
