Malloy Residence, Westport
The original house was designed by a disciple
of Frank Lloyd Wright’s, Aaron Resnik, in the same style
as the celebrated “Prairie” houses. A large addition
on the north “wooded” side consists of a library /
media room on the first floor and a guest bedroom on the floor
below. The library is surrounded with glass doors opening to a
perimeter walking porch with deep roof overhangs. The design mimics
the form of an original screened in porch on the far side of the
house. The new exterior fenestration matches the original “simple
common materials used in a modern way” just as Wright would
have done.
CWA was given an AIA Design Award for this house project.
