Petito Residence, Old Greenwich
This old Tudor carriage house belonged
to a prominent waterfront mansion, of the same style, traced to
the work of McKimm, Mead & White. The carriage house with its
immense character, was still used as such, up until this conversion
into a private residence. All of the improvements were completed
with explicit respect to the original architecture. The floor inside
the large bay window was opened to permit a dramatic 2 story stair
hall. The only addition to the outside were the dormers placed
in the back for the 2nd floor bedrooms and a bay window for the kitchen. Original horse stall dividers
of the steel, were used to separate rooms on the ground floor.
