Tempozan Marketplace: Osaka, Japan
A consortium of Japanese investors, converted
a shipping and warehouse district on “Tempozan Island” in
the Osaka Harbor, into a new waterfront development. The initial project
consists of a new aquarium and a marketplace retail center. A marketplace
building of 140,000 s.f. was created by adding onto a large old
warehouse. The concept adapts the "Festival Marketplace" concept
to a unique Japanese urban environment. This marketplace has thirty
specialty shops, nine full service restaurants, twelve fast food
restaurants, an entertainment center court with a complete theatrical
stage and four night clubs.
Harry Culpen & CWA acted as "retail development & design consultant" to Enterprise Development Corporation, a division of Rouse.
Cambridge Seven Associates, Inc. is the architect of record.
