Country Club of Darien, New Kitchen and Administration Building
The second project of the current 4-year expansion
plan is the new kitchen / administration building. It was completed
in the summer of 2009. The new main kitchen is located in the same
place as the old kitchen, but it is larger and has a full second story
of administrative offices and staff areas.
The building looks like the original farm
structures that once stood on this site in the 1920's, when it was
a part of the Auchincloss estate. The original gambrel roof lines
are replicated and large gable ends are organized over the structure.
Shingle siding and white trim is consistent with all of the club's
buildings. The building has enhanced energy and mechanical systems
through the use of high R-value insulation, efficient lighting, compact
design and centralized heating/cooling systems.
